Libre Hosting: The Bandwidth Game
Don't fall for it!
Other hosting providers and ISPs often quote huge, vastly unrealistic bandwidth claims, in the hopes that the uninformed buyer will fall for this deceptive marketing practice.
We feel that buyers are not that gullible, and can put 2 + 2 (or 1 & 1!) together :-).
Note that this is three TERABYTES per month of bandwidth - Depending on how & where they buy their bandwidth, if the customer actually used that much, it would cost them somewhere from five times to several hundred times what they are charging for this plan. Contact us for the exact math involved - we'll be happy to provide it.
They are simply betting that you won't use this much, and making ridiculous offers to dupe the unwary consumer.
Much more important, is what the *connection* speed is - it is not uncommon for hosting providers to sell a bandwidth plan that offer more total GB/month than the connection they give you is physically capable of providing! Libre Hosting does not follow these shady practices, and provides a 100MB (or 1GB on request) unrestricted, unthrottled connection, with ample headroom, that is not saturated.
We use the industry-standard "95th percentile" bandwidth-measurement method. This method takes readings of inbound and outbound bandwidth utilization on regular intervals. The larger bandwidth utilization of the two is recorded. At the end of the billing period, the highest 5% of the readings are discarded and the customer is charged for their usage at the 95% mark.
This method allows protection against traffic spikes, where you are 'Slashdotted' or 'Dugg', for example.

Other hosting provides may:
1) Throttle your bandwidth so you customers see a slooooow page if your traffic spikes;
2) Display an "Over bandwidth" page instead of, or as a "Landing" or interstitial page when you are over your limit;3) Simply cut off your service.

Plus, if you go over, and you feel that your site has scaled up, and you may need the bandwidth on an ongoing basis, we offer up to a one month retroactive billing plan, to cover your overage in a new bandwidth sales agreement, to save you money.
